Shabraz, the Skyshark

I made this cake to celebrate the Ikoria launch! Looking through the spoilers for this set, I saw so many cards I wanted to either cosplay or cake. The cards Shabraz and Brallin from the Jeskai commander precon really jumped out though.

This cake was really hard to make. It nearly destroyed me.

Shabraz is built on top of a base of armature and modeling chocolate. All of the actual cake is in the body of the shark. Then the wings and Brallin were made of a combination of modeling chocolate and gumpaste.

The cake was vanilla cake with dark chocolate ganache and it was covered in fondant. There was a much smaller cake to decoration element than my cakes usually have because it had to be eaten by only myself and my boyfriend. It was nice to put so much emphasis on the decoration though. Even for a small party, it is possible to have a showstopper cake! This had enough cake to feed ~15-20 people (or two people for a week).

I love this art so much! The tiny little details made it so much fun to try and recreate.
