Elspeth Onesie

I made this onesie as a mockup of what I want to create for the Desertbus Craft-along.

It’s designed to look like one of Magic the Gathering’s best planeswalkers, Elspeth!

The onesie features a detachable cape, fake armor attachments, and quilted textures.

Improvements for the Desertbus Craft:

For Desertbus, the finished onesie will:

  1. Have a looser fit, to be more “one size fits many”

  2. Use custom-painted fabric for more realistic metallic effects

  3. Include more of the decorative elements of Elspeth’s armor

  4. Minor improvements based on what I learned from the mockup

Onesies are a fun way for fans to cosplay as their favorite characters, both at home and at events. They are designed to be loose and comfy and fit a range of sizes.

2020 Craftalong

Emrakul Onesie

Last year, I made an Emrakul onesie for the craft-along. The Emrakul onesie was a fun way to make an abstract version of a difficult to cosplay character.

This year, I wanted to make a more literal cosplay of a fan-favorite character. After wearing craft-foam armor to a pre-release, I wondered if a fleece onesie could achieve some of the same effect in a comfier way.

I’m very excited to remake the Elspeth onesie using the same kind of custom-painted fleece that Emrakul used. The luxury fabric really helps the idea come to life.

Previous Work

Kruphix, God of Horizons

This was my first onesie, and a great learning experience.

It’s more form-fitting because I was making it for myself (I prefer a snug fit). Traditionally kigus are a lot looser.

I worked with a basic onesie pattern and added the extra arms.

Helica Glider

Another Magic costume, this nightmare squirrel is from Ikoria.

For this costume, I added to the onesie with additional arms, webbed wings, facial details, and two tails.
